Imperial city of Isny
Isny in the Allgäu became an imperial city in 1365. The mint right, conceded in 1507, was sustained until 1702. In 1806 Isny and its 2000 inhabitants fell to Württemberg.   Isny´s arms refer to its name, "Isen" meaning iron or horseshoe. Emperor Frederic III. enlarged the arms "with a crowned eagle presenting its tongue ..."
Isny minted thalers in 1538, 1540 and 1554. Thalers of 1538 and 1540 carry the effigy of the emperor.
